What Ayurveda has to say?

Ayurveda Says:

Dryness in the skin is most often a reflection of dryness within the body, and commonly associated with an imbalance of Vata dosha.

Dietary Recommendations:

To balance Vata, embrace foods that bring warming, grounding, nourishing and unctuous qualities to the body. Focus on fresh fruits, cooked vegetables, warm whole grains, and healthy fats like good quality oils, nuts and seeds. Limit processed foods, sugar, unhealthy fats, and excessive caffeine and alcohol as they further dehydrate the body. As we age, we gradually lose moisture throughout the body, and Vata dosha will naturally increase. Keeping the body hydrated and supple from within is important. Oils should be used daily on the skin, as well as incorporated into cooking, such as ghee, sesame oil and olive oil.

Ayurvedic Care:

Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of self-massage (abhyanga) for maintaining health and well-being. It is especially beneficial for grounding and nourishing Vata dosha. Regular self-massage with warming oils soothes more than just the skin, it nourishes and lubricates all of the channels of the body and soothes the mind. Long, sweeping strokes on the limbs and circular motions on the joints promote absorption and improve circulation. Combining this practice with meditation, yoga, and pranayama will amplify its effect.

This stuff is no joke!! I have severely dry knuckles and elbows during the winter months here in Minnesota and I’ve only used this stuff for 3 nights and my rough and horribly dry, cracked skin (sometimes to the point it bleeds) is almost healed and so soft!!! I’ve tried SO. MANY. LOTIONS. BALMS. OILS. A little goes a long way and works amazing after a soak in the tub. And the SMELL is heavenly and so therapeutic. I love that it absorbs fairly quickly too. A lot of other products seem to sit on top. Another magic UMA product. <3
